Annual Meeting - April 2018

  • The Annual Meeting was held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 7 pm at the Reston Association building. The next annual meeting will take place in April 2019. Specific date coming soon! This is a yearly opportunity to attend a community meeting to hear about upcoming and completed projects, and to voice concerns or offer suggestions. We will also pass out parking passes at this meeting. Owners/landlords are responsible for getting the parking passes for their tenants.   • Parking Lot Work

    • We cracksealed the parking lot in April 2017 and also repainted the parking lines, parking spots, and firelanes. Notices were mailed to homeowners and signs were posted. If your car was relocated by Battlefield Towing for that project you will be assessed a $45 charge. Contact Gates Hudson for more information.

    Trash Information and Pick Up Day

    • To replace a damaged or stolen trash cart or recycling bin, call Fairfax County at 703-802-3322, TTY 711.
    • Household Hazardous Waste and Trash, such as car batteries, used motor oil, other automotive fluids, solvents, pesticides, paint, paint thinners, and fertilizers should be disposed of at the I-66 or I-95 Household Hazardous Waste drop off points.

    Oversized Items
    Fairfax County offers special collection of household items that are too large to collect with a standard garbage truck. Some examples of this include a stove, refrigerator, or couch.. Your base service fee includes a limit of 5 special collections per address per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Special collections are limited to 12 cubic yards of sorted loose materials (brush, bulk, metal, and Freon containing items such as refrigerators, freezers or dehumidifiers), or approximately 5 feet x 6 feet x 10 feet. Special collection is for residential use only.

    Snow Plowing Information
    This year our snow plowing contract is with Richards Landscaping Services, out of Fairfax. As in past years, our contract is a standard one that states that we will receive a visit from the snow plows if there has been 2" or more of snow, to clear snow and ice from our parking lot and entry lane. Residents are responsible for clearing their own parking spot and walkway. We can also request that barrels of sand be placed at strategic points around the community, and residents can use the sand to help clear their immediate area. This company services 12 other neighborhoods in the surrounding area, and we are placed on a continuously rotating list.

    Board Meetings are typically held on the third Monday of every month at Southgate Community Center. *We will meet the second Monday of January and February 2019 due to Federal Holidays.*   Please contact the President for more information if you would like to attend.

    Paying Cluster Dues
    The dues payment is $133.90 per quarter. Since the cluster dues were recently increased, residents will need to update the online payment amounts on the MySmartStreet website.  You may pay your cluster dues by contacting our management company, Gates & Hudson Management.  To pay your cluster dues online, use the Smart Street Technology Services platform at  For additional help, the phone number for Gates Hudson Management is 703-752-8300, and the Southgate Square contact person at Gates & Hudson Management is Ashley Prime. We've also provided some online instructions on automatic payment setup to help get you started.

    Color Palette and Cluster Standards
    Please note that all units that repaint their entire homes are required to change to the 2007 color palette. If you are just touching up your paint, you are not required to paint the entire house in the new colors. All homes can chose between five main exterior colors. Each homeowner is allowed to pick whatever color they prefer, provided it is not the same color as any home adjacent. So, if your neighbor picks a color and paints first, you cannot pick that same color! Each home also has new trim color choices. All palette colors are available at HOME DEPOT and/or LOWES (for the Olympic's "Russet" wood stain). To view the new standards, click here.

    Reston Association Design Review Board (DRB)

    If you plan to make changes to the exterior of your property, you are required to obtain approval from Reston DRB. The application can be found at under the Design Review Section.If you have already completed (or are in the process of completing) outside work, you will also need to send in a DRB application, if you did not do so prior to doing the work.

    If your vehicle is towed, please call Community Towing at 703-466-5344.  Community Towing & Storage is located at 4264 Entre CT in Chantilly, VA.

    Each homeowner can apply for up to three parking passes from Gates Hudson Management Company. These expire April 30 of every year. Make sure you have the current year parking pass displayed in your vehicle.  Cars without current sticker/tag between 12:00 am and 6:00 am will be towed.  Abandoned cars will be tagged and given 10 days to move before being towed at owner's expense.  All vehicles must have current license plate and safety inspection stickers and must be registered with the state of Virginia within two months of moving here.
